1 day Emergency Outdoor First Aid

This 2 day course teaches delegates how to administer first aid in remote conditions. Perfect for ski instructors, D of E leaders, or Scout and Guide leaders.

We are the outdoor, expedition and wilderness First Aid experts in the South East delivering courses for over 20 years.

This course is ideal for anybody working outdoors such as coaches, outdoor support staff and anyone who needs a 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course but would like the content to be more specific to their workplace or activity outdoor.

It involves 8 hours of tuition and includes an element of assessment.  The main difference between this course and the 16 hour Outdoor First Aid course is that the focus is on treating life threatening emergencies without longer term incident management. For example, a rugby coach who would need to manage the patient outside until the ambulance arrived or a walker in a group on Surrey Hills.

The aim of the course is to enable students to recognise when someone has a medical emergency and be able to give immediate appropriate assistance at First Aid level.

Like our 16 Hour Remote Outdoor First Aid this course is taught outside, with some learning in the classroom, there is also a range of scenarios to work through to embed learning and ensure delegates are left confident and competent.

The content of this shorter outdoor course includes:

Emergency Remote Outdoor First Aid:

  • Scene management
  • Incident protocol
  • Triage
  • Primary assessment
  • Airway opening and safe airway position
  • Management of an unconscious casualty
  • Resuscitation CPR – remote protocols
  • Defibrillator in remote environments
  • Choking management
  • Serious bleeding including chainsaw injury
  • Major trauma including crush injuries and suspension trauma
  • Hyperthermia and dehydration – remote protocols
  • Management of fractures
  • Asthma – remote protocols
  • Lymes disease
