Mental Health First Aider

Mental Health Awareness and Mental Health First Aider (for adults)

Surrey First Aid believes that mental first aid and physical first aid should be treated with the same level of importance. We know the importance in the workplace of knowing how to recognise a heart attack, how to give CPR and how to stop a bleed, but yet we do not give the same focus on how to recognise an anxiety attack, how to give First Aid for a manic episode or how to help when someone is having suicidal thoughts. This is our opportunity to change this.

Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental illness each year. In 2016, 15.8 million UK work days were lost due to mental illness. Mental health related conditions such as stress, anxiety and depression cost the UK economy over £32 billion in 2017, indicating that overhauls to how we treat mental health in the workplace needs to be changed.

Surrey First Aid Training is delighted to deliver Mental Health First Aider and Awareness Training which meets the guidelines of the HSE. This course runs in conjunction with Mind Woking, the Mental Health Charity and covers all aspects of mental health conditions recognition, first aid and where and how to get support. This course can be delivered by our Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA England) registered trainer and training programme, or we also offer a Surrey First Aid Training option which reduces the cost of delivering the training.

Training can be delivered with the trainer in your venue or online.
