Before you buy or hire

After serious incident review the first point made by the HSE was the weather conditions the inflatable was being used in. Strong winds and over heating caused inflatables to collapse, explode and blow away in the wind. In another other incidents the fault had been down to human error. The HSE made the following guidelines when hiring or puchasing inflatables.

If you’re buying or hiring an inflatable for private or public use you should make sure it has either a numbered PIPA tag or an ADiPs declaration of compliance (DoC).

It should also have:

  • written documentation from a competent inspection body to show it complies with British Standard BS EN 14960
  • instructions on how to operate it safely
