16-Hour Forest School Paediatric First Aid 8th & 9th February 2027 (Equivalent Level 3)

How the Course Works
This two-day practical course is delivered both outdoors and indoors and is tailored specifically to Forest School and outdoor learning environments.

Training scenarios include managing incidents where access is limited, emergency services may be delayed and children are exposed to the additional risks associated with outdoor activities.

The course includes ongoing practical assessment throughout the training, ensuring delegates develop the confidence and competence required to respond effectively.

What You'll Learn

• Assess an emergency and prioritise appropriate action.
• Manage emergencies safely in an outdoor environment.
• Support an unresponsive baby or child who is breathing normally.
• Respond to seizures, including febrile convulsions.
• Manage choking incidents outdoors.
• Understand the role and responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider.
• Maintain appropriate first aid equipment and accident records.
• Injuries Commonly Associated with Forest School

You'll learn how to manage:

• Bleeding injuries, including cuts caused by tools such as whittling knives.
• Nosebleeds.
• Burns and scalds, including those caused by fire pits.
• Sunburn and heat-related injuries.
• Suspected fractures and outdoor injury management.
• Head, neck and back injuries, including falls from height.
• Eye injuries and embedded foreign objects.
• Minor injuries including cuts, grazes and splinters.
• Bites and stings.
• Outdoor Medical Emergencies

You'll also cover:

• Severe bleeding and hypovolaemic shock.
• Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions.
• Asthma attacks.
• Diabetic emergencies.
• Meningitis awareness.
• Poisoning incidents.
• Effects of extreme temperatures, including hypothermia, hyperthermia and dehydration.

Throughout the course, delegates take part in practical scenarios designed around Forest School environments, helping them develop the confidence to make decisions and provide effective first aid until further help arrives.
