Emergency First Aid for Sports & Dance 7th March 2027 (Equivalent to Level 3)
What You'll Learn
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Emergency First Aid
- Assess an emergency situation safely.
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
- Contact the emergency services effectively.
- Provide adult CPR.
- Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Manage an unconscious casualty, including placing them in the recovery position.
- Recognise and manage seizures.
- Control severe bleeding.
- Treat minor wounds, burns and scalds.
- Recognise and manage anaphylaxis.
- Prevent cross infection.
- Understand accident reporting and first aid equipment requirements.
- Sports & Dance Specific Training
You'll also learn how to manage common injuries and medical emergencies encountered in sporting and dance environments, including:
- Sports injury assessment using the SALTAPS framework.
- Asthma during exercise.
- Cardiac-related emergencies.
- Diabetic emergencies.
- Hyperventilation and breathing-related conditions during physical activity.
- Making safe decisions about returning an injured participant to activity.
Throughout the course you'll take part in practical scenarios based on real sporting situations, helping you develop the confidence to respond calmly and effectively in an emergency.
