What You'll Learn

This practical course covers the essential knowledge and skills needed to deal with a range of workplace emergencies while awaiting the arrival of the emergency services.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

• Assess an emergency situation safely and prioritise appropriate action.
• Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider.
• Contact the emergency services and communicate effectively.
• Provide adult CPR.
• Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
• Place an unconscious casualty into the recovery position and monitor their condition.
• Recognise and treat choking.
• Control minor and severe bleeding.
• Recognise and manage shock, including anaphylaxis.
• Treat burns and scalds.
• Recognise and respond to seizures.
• Provide appropriate casualty care until professional medical assistance arrives.

Throughout the day, delegates will take part in practical scenarios designed to build confidence and prepare them to respond calmly and effectively in a real-life emergency.
